Spring 2019 Notes

Happy New Year to everyone!  I hope everyone had a fantastic and relaxing winter break.  Lessons will officially begin on Monday, January 7, and will end on Friday, May 31.

 

The studio will not meet on the following dates:

Monday, January 21st:  Martin Luther King Jr. holiday (all public schools closed)

Thursday, February 21st-Friday, February 22nd:  I will be out of town

Thursday, March 21st:  faculty concert, Campbell University

Wednesday, April 10th:  New Music Concert, Methodist University

April 22-26, 2019:  Spring Break (Please note, this is the same spring break time frame as Cumberland County.  Individual schools may differ.  We may also possibly use this week as makeup lesson week if necessary.)

 

Student Performances

We have many upcoming performance opportunities this semester. Each student is encouraged to participate in at least one performance event in addition to the studio recital. Below is a partial list:

Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019:  UNCG Piano Day

Saturday, February 23, 2019:  NCMTA Competition and Festival

Saturday, March 2, 2019:  Dr. Sharyn Edwards Competition, Whiteville, North Carolina

Saturday, April 26, 2019:  FSU Piano Day, Rosenthal Building, Fayetteville State University

Friday, May 17, 2019-Sunday, May 19, 2019:  FPTA Competition and Festival

Studio Recital:  TBA

 

Tuition

Tuition for the 2018-2019 school year:

Weekly 30-minute lesson:  $100/monthly

Weekly 45-minute lesson:  $150/monthly

Weekly 60-minute lesson:  $200/monthly

 

Tuition is due at the first lesson of the month.  Tuition covers not only the time spent in lesson, but also the preparation for each student.  This includes:

  • the individualized plan for each student’s course of study
  • Development of teaching materials, including music history, music theory assignments, and ensemble practice
  • Training and experience
  • Travel and attendance at competitions and festivals
  • Recital preparation and repertoire planning
  • Studio lending library
  • Attendance and local and state music education conferences
  • Professional organization memberships, including MTNA, NCMTA, and FPTA
  • Upkeep of studio, including regular instrument maintenance

Tuition is payable through check, cash, debit/credit card, and by PayPal.
