The studio will begin the spring semester on Monday, January 9, and will end on Friday, June 9. The home studio will be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The studio will also hold lessons at MacPherson Presbyterian Church on Wednesday afternoons.
The studio will be closed for Spring Break on April 17-21 (which is the same week that Cumberland County Public Schools have break).
The studio may also reschedule lessons on Thursday, April 27, as that is the day of Campbell University performance juries.
There are several opportunities to perform this year. Each student is encouraged to participate in at least one performance event other than the Spring Studio Recital. Below is a list of piano performance events:
Saturday, Feb. 4: UNCG Piano Day (ages 13 and up)
Saturday, Feb. 4: UNCW Piano Day (ages 13 and up)
Saturday, March 18: NCMTA at Methodist University (intermediate-advanced students)
Saturday, March 18: Dr. Sharyn Edwards Piano Competition, Whiteville (open to all students)
Saturday, April 22: FSU Piano Day (open to all students)
Saturday, April 30: ECU Competition (ages 13-18)
Saturday, May 20: FPTA Competition (open to all students)
Sunday, May 21: FPTA Winners’ Recital
Saturday, June 10: Studio Recital, MacPherson Presbyterian Church (open to all students)
Starting this semester, there will be a fee for the studio recital. The fee is $10 per student, and not to exceed $15 for a family. This fee is necessary to cover the costs of tunings, recital programs, certificates, and reception food. The fee will be due with the May tuition.
Professional Concert Series
One of the questions I always ask incoming students is: what kind of music do you listen to at home? And after that: how often do you attend music events? Listening to professional concerts is beneficial to a young musician’s development. We are fortunate to have our own orchestra, the Fayetteville Symphony. There is also the North Carolina Symphony based in Raleigh. Both symphonies offer a variety of events and programs for children. The Fayetteville Piano Teachers will also hold their faculty concert on Sunday, January 22, at 5:00 at Huff Concert Hall, Methodist University.
There will be another spring challenge this semester. You can find them here:
